Replace your old time-gobbling, non self-plumbing log scribers with Chambers Scribers and you’ll save tons of time and money on your very next project!
It’s simple math. If you’re paying skilled craftsmen to build log homes every day, or are a first time DIY’er eager to build your first log home project, how much time will be wasted by your current set of log scribers? Actually, the amount of time wasted is staggering.
Stop paying builders to climb up and down ladders to walk to and from the plumb board three times per log when they could be using this same time productively scribing! You need to get your project done as soon as possible with the least amount of frustration and mistakes. In either case, Chambers Scribers are your answer to fast and accurate results with minimal down time. Remember that workers walking, are not building.
If you or your crews are still using non-self-plumbing scribers without space pens…
LOG SCRIBERS of OLD WASTE VALUABLE TIME.
This simple investment in time can have you handing your company back thousands of otherwise-wasted hours year after year. And that means more time scribing, not plumbing, and that means your crew getting the job done faster and more accurately.
How many scribe settings will each worker need to change over the next year using those older style log scribers that lose their plumb with every scribe setting-change or bump they receive while climbing up and down umpteen times per day? Do the math and you’ll see that hundreds and soon, thousands of hours will be saved by skipping the endless trips to the ridiculous cave man plum board of yesteryear.
Let’s pretend a builder is up on the 8th round of logs and ready to scribe the rough notch using the old fashioned non-self-plumbing scribers that were purchased as a “great deal”. First, the builder must un-tighten the wing nut or whatever other style tightener it might have to set the log home scribers to the right distance. Now the builder climbs the ladder with the scriber in one hand, and scribes the rough notch on each end of the new log. After rough notches are cut and the log is set in place to be scribed, the log scriber must be re set to first of three final scribe settings, the notch setting. First, a trip the the plumb board probably 40 feet away and this of course takes a walk, (remember, walking is not actually “working” when it comes to building log homes!) Next, an un-tightening of the log scribers, then steadily placing the old log scribers against the plumb board, and then a re-tightening. Hopefully you didn’t smash the pencils or felt tip plotter pens! Now, the worker must walk back and climb to the top of the 8th round and scribe the notches.
Once that is done, now the lateral or long groove must be scribed at its setting. The builder now must un-tighten the old log scribers, set them to the new scribe distance, and walk back to the plumb board, place it against the plumb board, and carefully reset it to plumb. Now another walk back the building. The builder then scribes the inner and outer long grooves. Next, the builder must scribe the “flyways” or outer ends of the log corners. This is the 4th time the scribers have been set for this one log! So, the worker again, un-tightens the old scribers, resets the distance, walks back to the plumb board, carefully sets it back to plumb, and walks back to the log home, climbs back up the ladder and scribes the flyways on each end.
Imaging repeating this process 60 or more times for just a moderate sized log home. And don’t forget to add the zillion times you’ll bump the log scribers out of plumb and have to reset them. Utter frustration.
Now imagine having your Chambers Scribers in hand, simply set your rough notch setting with your Chambers Scribers and just scribe the rough notch, next, reset it for the lateral groove without having to get down from the ladder and start scribing the long groove from right where you are. Last, reset your Chambers Scribers to the flyway setting again without climbing down and just keep on scribing. You’re done. Doesn’t that sound a lot easier? Much less climbing up and down and no more walking, plumbing, climbing, walking, plumbing, climbing, walking,…! And guess what, your scribing is actually much more accurate because the space pens in Chambers Scribers do not wear down or break which means your settings are the same no matter how long you use them.
